# Node Roles

PIJSChain defines three primary node roles. These roles are not mutually exclusive, meaning that a single physical machine may perform multiple functions depending on how it is configured and operated.

**1) Block Producer Node**

**2) Staking Node (Consensus Participation Node)**

**3) Full Node**

Design Principle:\
In PIJSChain, nodes are not merely state synchronizers. They form the operational infrastructure of consensus itself. Even a non-staking Full Node contributes to the network through verification and data propagation, while staking-based rewards are strictly conditioned on real infrastructure contribution. This ensures that economic benefits remain aligned with measurable participation.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter:

```
GET https://pijschain.gitbook.io/whitepaper/system-architecture/node-roles.md?ask=<question>
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
